ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Adams County deputies arrested a man and a woman for allegedly stealing copper by cutting AT&T internet lines.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said deputies were dispatched to Powlett Road on Friday, April 26. He said this was the second time since April 15 they responded to the scene after AT&T internet lines had been cut.

According to the sheriff, the suspects stole 143 feet of internet lines that contained copper.

Patten said his office contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office about the thefts.

The suspects, who were identified as Joshua Peebles and Tiffany Vickers, were arrested during a traffic stop on Highway 547 in Claiborne County. Patten said deputies recovered the stolen internet lines and burglary tools used to cut the line.

Peebles and Vickers were transported to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office. Patten said the two admitted to stealing the lines on April 15 and April 26 in Adams County. According to the sheriff, the lines that were cut took out internet service to the airport and the FAA both times.

Peebles and Vickers are both being charged with felony possession of stolen property in Claiborne County. They’re both being charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of larceny in Adams County. Additional charges are pending.

Patten said each theft resulted in around $10,000 in damages.
