JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are investigating after a fisherman discovered a body in the Pearl River.

The incident happened near South State Street and Gallatin Street on Tuesday, April 30. Multiple emergency units responded to the scene in order to recover the body.

Detective Tommie Brown said the deceased person appeared to be a male.

Jackson police, Hinds County EMS, Rankin County deputies, Richland police, Jackson firefighters and others worked to recover the body, which was located on the embankment near the water’s edge.

The person has not been identified. Brown said there’s no current indication of foul play.
