JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly killing his mother in Jackson.

Detective Tommie Brown said 43-year-old Michael Grayer was arrested around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.

The body of 68-year-old Charlean Grayer was discovered inside a home in the 100 block of Stokes Robertson Road on Tuesday, January 23. Investigators said Michael Grayer initially told police he found his mother body inside the home.

Police said Charlean Grayer died from a single gunshot wound, and investigators recovered a single shell casing at the scene.

Brown said Michael Grayer was charged with murder. He appeared in court on Thursday, May 2, and his bond was set at $250,000. Grayer was also ordered to not leave the state.
