Bond denied for three charged in fatal Hinds County club shooting

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The three suspects charged in connection to the fatal shooting at a Utica club have been denied bond.

Anthony Brown, 48, Eric Dixon, 42, and Joseph Crum, 34, made their initial appearance in court on Thursday, May 2.

Brown, Dixon and Crum have each been charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

The shooting happened just before midnight on Sunday, April 28 outside the Sugar Shack Club in the 1000 block of Lee Davis Circle.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, 41-year-old Jason Harris was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

The sheriff said four others, including Anthony Brown, were injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment by private vehicles. The three other victims were identified as 53-year-old Michael Brown, 29-year-old Deidra Williams, and 22-year-old Lorenzo Cooper.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving the deceased and three other individuals. According to the sheriff, investigators believe the individuals know each other.

The sheriff said Dickson is the brother of Harris, who was killed in the shooting.

Investigators recovered a handgun and a revolver at the scene, as well as 23 shell casings. Jones said additional arrests and charges are possible in this case.
