JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Crews are finalizing a road project that began in early April in Jackson.

On April 16, officials with JXN Water issued a traffic advisory for Fortification Street between Quinn and Monroe Street. The project was supposed to last five days, but it continued into the month of May.

JXN Water officials said crews have made multiple repairs in the area, including sewer infrastructure repairs.

“Well, I’m very excited about it because a lot of the traffic has been diverted to work in front of my house. And so, I’m excited that Fortification is going to be open now,” said Eddie Wells, who lives in the area.

Crews were paving Fortification Street on Tuesday, May 7. JXN Water expects to the road to reopen on Friday, May 10.
