JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – JXN Water announced a temporary road closure on Paden Street due to a large sinkhole.

Crews are working to repair the sewer line on Paden Street between Cummins Street and West McDowell Road.

The repairs began on Wednesday, May 8 after residents voiced their concerns about the sinkhole and the foul smells coming from it.

“I am so happy. I am very, very happy because these people shouldn’t be living like this here. And I just can’t… I just give God all the glory when I seen them working out here,” said Patricia Barnes, who lives in the area.

JXN Water officials said the road will be closed until repairs are complete.
