JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Preparation is key as severe weather approaches the Jackson-metro area.

Parts of Central Mississippi will be at a slight or enhanced severe weather risk Thursday night.

Officials said it’s a good idea to keep a disaster supply kit handy. Some basic items can include batteries, flashlights, local maps and a first aid kit.

Neighbors are also encouraged to pay attention to warnings and weather alerts.
