RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Ridgeland police responded to a hotel after a six-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a pool.

The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 just after 5:30 p.m. at the Drury Inn in the 600 block of East County Line Road.

According to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers, the child was found on the edge of the pool. She had been removed from the water by a family member.

Myers said the girl was transported to Children’s of Mississippi in Jackson for treatment. As of Monday, May 13, the child remains in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The investigation is ongoing.
