RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies arrested a man after 22 pounds of fentanyl were discovered during a traffic stop.
A Rankin County deputy stopped a Ford truck on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation just after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said the deputy developed probable cause that the driver may be involved in drug trafficking. Another deputy and his K-9 partner “Voodoo,” as well as other members of the Criminal Interdiction Team, responded to the location.
According to Bailey, “Voodoo” alerted on the vehicle. Deputies searched the vehicle and found two false compartments. They recovered 22 pounds of fentanyl.
The driver, who was identified as Arturo Gonsen-Miranda, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Rankin County Jail.
No bond has been set for Gonsen-Miranda at this time.
