PIKE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The trial for the defendant accused of killing her mother when she was 14 has been moved out of Pike County.

According to court documents, the trial of Amariyona Hall has been moved from the Pike County Circuit Court to the Panola County Circuit Court. The trial is expected to begin at 9:00 a.m. on June 24, 2024.

Hall has been charged in connection to the death of her mother, Ericka Hall, 32, who was killed in 2019. Hall was just 14 at the time of her mother’s death in southwest Mississippi’s Pike County.

Investigators said Hall and her then-12-year-old sister stabbed and shot their mother. Hall was charged as an adult, and she was indicted in January 2020.

Hall’s defense team said the location of the trial should be shifted away from Pike County because jurors there would be prejudiced against her because of the publicity the murder received.
