Richland police arrest man during undercover drug operation

RICHLAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Richland police arrested a Jackson man during an undercover drug operation.

Investigators said Fredrick Tyrone Hart, 34, was arrested on Monday, May 20 at a local department store. They said Hart attempted to meet with the undercover narcotics officer in a bathroom to sell 12 fentanyl pills.

Richland police said investigators observed Hart enter the bathroom by himself, and he was arrested without incident.

According to police, Hart was found to be in possession of 12 dosage units of fentanyl, along with ecstasy/methamphetamine pills. Hart was charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and possession of ecstasy/methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Investigators said Hart has nearly 20 arrests on his criminal history, with at least three prior felony convictions including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. They said he’s currently on parole for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon out of Colorado.

Hart is being held at the Rankin County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
