JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson family has been traumatized after they were carjacked in the driveway of their home, and the incident was captured on their security camera.

Heather Allen said she has been unable to sleep and is paranoid to even be outside of her home.

According to Allen, the family was headed to North Mississippi to visit family on Friday, May 24 when the carjacking happened outside their home on Jayne Avenue. She said two men approached their vehicle and pointed a gun in their direction.

“They kind of do a U-turn, come walking up. You know, they say something, and I can’t recall what they say, but they start shooting at me. And my son is on the outside of the car, and they’re like, ‘Give, give me the keys. Give me the keys.’ And they yanked and pulled my daughter out of the car. And I stood up, and I saw them,” said Allen.

She said her vehicle was found 40 minutes after the carjacking on a nearby street. Allen is thankful that her children and grandchildren were not injured, but she is planning to relocate.

A GoFundMe was organized to help the family recover.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said police are actively looking for the suspects.
