RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – A six-year-old girl has died after being found unresponsive in a Ridgeland hotel pool earlier this month.

The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 just after 5:30 p.m. at the Drury Inn in the 600 block of East County Line Road.

According to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers, the girl, who was identified as Skylar Thomas, was found on the edge of the pool. She had been removed from the water by a family member.

Myers said Thomas was transported to Children’s of Mississippi in Jackson for treatment. She later died.

Thomas was a student at Lake Elementary in Jackson, according to the Jackson Public School District (JPS).
