Man charged in Natchez shooting that injured two, dog

NATCHEZ, Miss. (WJTV) – An arrest has been made after two men and a dog were injured during a shooting in Natchez.

The Natchez Democrat reported Wesley Douglas, Jr., was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The shooting happened on Walnut Street just after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31. The two victims were identified as Hunter Craft and William Rouse. They were transported to a local hospital for treatment, and a dog was taken to a local veterinarian.

According to Natchez police, Craft was staying at a home on Walnut Street where he and an unidentified woman were involved in a fight. During the fight, police said the woman called Rouse to pick her up.

Investigators said Rouse returned to the home on Walnut Street with Douglas, and there was a fight between Rouse and Craft. During the fight, police said Douglas retrieved a gun and shot Craft.

Police said additional arrests could be made in this case.
