Bond set for Vicksburg man charged in May homicide

VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Vicksburg police arrested a 58-year-old man in connection to a homicide that occurred on Locust Street.

Police said Bernard Brown was arrested on Thursday, June 6 and was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. He appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Friday, June 7. Brown’s bond was set at $1,025,000.

Police said Sampson Bunch, 32, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact. Bunch was given a bond of $1,500.

The shooting happened just before 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 in the 400 block of Locust Street.

Police said the victim, Shandrick Montgomery, 45, of Vicksburg, was found in the street. He had been shot in the chest and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
