JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The family of Dau Mabil said there has been a lack of transparency by Capitol police and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI).

On Saturday, Mabil’s family, the NAACP and other organizations demanded that the formal autopsy and investigation details be shared.

“All we need is just answers what happened. How did someone vanish in daylight from Belhaven area to almost 40 miles away from Jackson with no trace? Things just don’t add up,” said Mathiang Ayor, Mabil’s nephew.

Mabil disappeared from his Belhaven neighborhood in March 2024. His body was found in the Pearl River in Lawrence County on April 13, 2024.
