Gulfport teen accused of stabbing sleeping woman

GULFPORT, Miss. (WJTV) – Gulfport police arrested a 15-year-old girl after she allegedly stabbed a woman who was sleeping.

The incident occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday, June 14 on Dee Avenue.

Police said the victim was stabbed multiple times. The investigation revealed that the victim was asleep in bed when she awoke to find Lexi Jade Brown, 15, attacking her with a knife. Police said Brown then attempted to start a fire inside the home.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and Brown was taken into custody.

Investigators said Brown stated she had been planning to kill the victim because she found her to be a “weird (expletive)” and accused the victim of “suppressing the Black in her.”

Brown was charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of first-degree arson. She was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where she is being held on a $1,250,000 bond.
