JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Jackson organization was burglarized this weekend.

John Hardy, executive director of 100 Black Men of Jackson, said the break-in occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 16. He said surveillance cameras caught someone stealing a 65-inch television, yanking out security and telephone wires and kicking the door of Hardy’s office to steal some of his items.

“That’s going to cause some problems for us, to be quite honest with you. The sad thing about this break-in we’ll recover, we’ll be fine there, but we’re spending a lot of money making these corrections and adjustments… money that we would have spent on our mentees to buy back to school supplies. We have a free swimming program going on right now. We have to buy chemicals and pay lifeguards and instructors. So, it just hurts us when we know we’re already operating on a limited budget and these extra expenses that are now surface is literally crippling us,” said Hardy.

He said the burglar also tried to steal one of their company vehicles but failed. Hardy said the suspect jumped the gate and ran from the scene around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.

“I really don’t have words right now. Just a few months ago, they stole catalytic converters off three of our vehicles and that set us back a little bit. And I thought we were gotten past that, to be quite honest with you. And that was the first one to show up Monday morning and to see the damage that was inside our clubhouse, just… I’m almost in tears right now,” he stated.
