JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Illegal dumping is causing major issues for one Jackson community.
Pastor David Coleman, with Full Gospel Christian Center, said he wants answers about the dumping of waste in front of his church on McRaven Road. He said the church had to cancel Sunday service because of the stench.
According to the pastor, an 18-wheeler came through and dumped the debris along the street. Coleman said it’s a health hazard.
“I feel that we should get some things done. We’re trying to build this area up for our people. It’s not working the way that I want it to, but I’m not going to stop. We’re not going anywhere, and we’re going to continue to do God’s work,” the pastor said.
WJTV 12 News reached out to the City of Jackson about the issue.
“We are aware of the horrific dump site. City officials are working with MDEQ to get the area cleaned. This was a coordinated illegal dump with an 18-wheeler,” city officials said.
Anyone with information about the illegal dumping on McRaven Road can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) at 601-960-1234.
