JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Take some time to unwind with friends, family or yourself this weekend. Below you’ll find a list of some fun events going on this weekend (June 21-23) around Mississippi.

Central Mississippi:

Fun Friday – Jackson – Friday

  • Explore the world of dinosaur defense methods with fun games and activities!

Food Truck Friday – Jackson – Friday

  • This will be a multi-vendor event that will allow the food truck community to come together and provide good food and a great customer experience for the businesses and employees in the Greater Downtown Area.

A Talk with Dave Dennis Sr. – Jackson – Friday

  • Dennis will share his experience as a civil rights activist during the Freedom Summer Project.

Belhaven Block Party – Jackson – Saturday

  • There will be live music, drinks and ice cream!

Fleet Feet Coffee Run – Ridgeland – Friday

  • The group usually makes a large loop around the area. After the run, the first round of coffee is free on Fleet Feet!

Boulevard Burger Bash – Clinton – Friday

  • Enjoy mouthwatering burgers complete with all the fixings. Relish in fellowship and engage in lively group games, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable weekend kickoff.

The New Bourbon Street Jazz Band at Milepost 89 – Clinton – Friday

  • The New Bourbon Street Jazz Band will perform their traditional New Orleans style music.

Nature Nuts – Clinton – Friday

  • Preschool-aged children and their grown-up explore nature through a hands-on activity, story, and play time!

Dinosaurs Around the World – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • With advanced animatronics, a multi-layered narrative, cutting-edge research, in an outdoor environment surrounded by nature, you’ll experience the Age of Reptiles brought back to life.

PAW Patrol Adventure Play Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • Save the day through hands-on play at the Mississippi Children’s Museum’s summer exhibit in Jackson, PAW Patrol: Adventure Play!

Flags from Mississippi – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The exhibit features 20 flags made from a variety of fabrics, such as wool and silk. Some were sewn by hand. Highlights include an original Magnolia flag, adopted in 1861 as the first official flag of Mississippi, that has been saved by conservators after it became severely fragmented.

“Thank You Please Come Again” Exhibit – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • Thank You Please Come Again features twenty-two photographs that document photojournalist Kate Medley’s ten-year journey through the heart of the American South.

What Became of Dr. Smith – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • What Became of Dr. Smith, is a large-scale, panoramic narrative painting by contemporary artist Noah Saterstrom. The exhibition delves into the life of Saterstrom’s great-grandfather.

Intersecting the Golden Age of Jazz and the Influence of Black Muslims – Jackson – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The special exhibit explores the intersection of jazz music and the influence of Black Muslims.

Pet Patrol – Jackson – Saturday

  • Bring your stuffed animal to a fun-filled day of activities at the Mississippi Children’s Museum. Special guest, Veterinarian Courtney Brown, will be assisting children with their pet care needs.

Music in the Park – Jackson – Saturday

  • This will be a great evening of talented and diverse local musicians. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers and set up for an evening with music and friends.

8th Annual Juneteenth on Farish Street – Jackson – Saturday

  • There will be performances by Anissa Hampton, Time To Move Band, Prep Cashmere, Scottie Pimpen, Britini B, Jway and Daniel Coleman.

Mississippi Farmers Market – Jackson – Saturday

  • From persimmons to peaches, from bok choy to butter beans, the Mississippi Farmers Market is the one place to go for the freshest fruits and vegetables that are grown in the state.

Riviera Day Club Pool Party – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • This will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Mulberry Vicksburg.

Star-Spangled Block Party & Night Run – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The race will start at dark and will be throughout downtown Vicksburg. After the race, participants and volunteers will have a party in the SCHF courtyard with live music, food, and fun.

Vicksburg Farmers’ Market – Vicksburg – Saturday

  • The event will be at the Farmers’ Market Lot on the corner of Jackson and Washington Street.

Miss-Lou Makers Market – Natchez – Saturday

  • The Miss-Lou Makers Market are local handmade artists from Mississippi and Louisiana gathered into an exclusive vendor showcase on the Natchez bluff.

Homelessness Awareness Charity Ride – Natchez – Saturday

  • Sponsored by the Seeds of Change Resource Foundation, the ride be from noon to 5:00 p.m.

Natchez Farmer’s Market – Natchez – Saturday

  • Every week there will be live fresh produce, baked goods, fresh dairy, and arts and crafts all from local growers and artists.

Mississippi Comic Con – Jackson – Saturday and Sunday

  • Mississippi Comic Con is thrilled to return to the capital city with its biggest and best lineup of guests to date!

Pine Belt:

Downtown Summertunes – Hattiesburg – Friday

  • Playing a slightly skewed take on classic honky tonk and bluegrass, Deano & Jo perform both originals and lesser-known covers with sounds of the 50s and 60s. Dean is also in Chicago’s Waco Brothers. Jo is the singer in Austin’s notorious Meat Purveyors.

Summer in the South – Hattiesburg – Friday

  • This is a program of virtuosity, storytelling and the variety of human experience through soprano voice and piano. Depicting the beauty of rural Americana, Samuel Barber’s “Knoxville Summer of 1915” expresses the essence of peace and gratitude that we enjoy in the South.

Masterful Tapestries – The Art of the Piano Quintet – Hattiesburg – Friday

  • Immerse yourself in the music of the masterful Schumann and Brahms.

Storytime with a Soldier – Hattiesburg – Friday

  • Storytime is a great experience for children in pre-K through 3rd grade.  Children will interact with a uniformed military veteran who will read a book, answer questions, have their photograph taken with the soldier and participate in an arts and crafts activity that is themed in concert with the book. 

​​American Bombshells – A Patriotic Celebration! – Hattiesburg – Friday

  • Stand up and salute as we conclude our morning music events with a bevy of brilliant patriotic songs and show tunes sung by a dynamite duo of bombshells the likes of whom haven’t been seen or heard like this since the days of the USO.

Friyay Karaoke Night – Laurel – Friday

  • The event will be held at 320 5th St. in Laurel.

New Exhibit at Hattiesburg Pocket Museum – Hattiesburg – Friday, Saturday & Sunday

  • The Hattiesburg Pocket Museum has a new exhibit every month, so be sure to head downtown for a small surprise!

Journey On! A Symphonic Experience Featuring the Music of Journey – Hattiesburg – Saturday
