MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman wanted in connection to the kidnapping of a mother and her 8-year-old son in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, was arrested at a Tunica Casino Thursday.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office said Amy Perez, 45, of Union County, North Carolina, is facing charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, and intimidation of court officials, jurors, or witnesses.

According to the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office on May 28, the female victim and her young son were taken by force from a house in the Jefferson area of Chesterfield County.

Deputies said they found both victims several hours later. The mother was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and her son was not hurt.

The sheriff’s department said two others have been charged in the case, and they expect to make more arrests.

Perez was taken into custody in Mississippi after the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about her whereabouts.

She is also charged with burglary and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime,
