CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was killed and five others were injured during a shooting in Canton.

The shooting happened during a gathering on Hickory Street around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 22.

Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said 20-year-old Jontravious Warren was killed during the shooting. Five other people were injured. Brown said two of the victims are in stable condition at a local hospital, and the three others have been released from the hospital.

The police chief said Jeremy Ollie, 19, is a person of interest in the case. According to the Madison County Detention Center’s website, Ollie was booked into the facility on Saturday. He has been charged with murder and six counts of aggravated assault.

According to Brown, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office is assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about the fatal shooting can contact the Canton Police Department.
