LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss (WJTV) – A charge has been upgraded against a Mississippi mother who was arrested in connection to the death of her two-year-old son.
According to the Lauderdale County Detention Center’s website, 35-year-old Adrienne McDevitt has been charged with capital murder after she was initially charged with murder.
The Meridian Star reported the incident occurred at a home in the 2600 block of Bolen Long Creek Road just before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun said deputies discovered the body of a two-year-old boy at the residence. His mother, McDevitt, was taken to a local hospital.
Investigators said initial evidence led them to believe the child was drowned.
McDevitt is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on no bond.
