CARTHAGE, Miss. (WJTV) – The family of a missing Carthage man wants answers.

On June 18, a Silver Alert was issued for 60-year-old David Todd Stewart. He was last seen in the 700 block of Midway Road, walking in an unknown direction.

Family members said they’ve reached out to the Leake County Sheriff’s Office for help multiple times and feels like more could be done. They said there has been very little communication between the family and the sheriff’s office since the beginning of the investigation.

“I’m the one that was went out in the woods looking for him. I got around, got lost, you know, it was hot Thursday, no water, no nothing and hurting. So, I can only imagine what my brother’s like if he’s out there,” said Cynthia Danevich, Stewart’s sister.

“We’ve already lost time, and there’s still a possibility he’s in those wood, and we’ve already got two days behind. There should have been boots on the ground. There should have been a team. He should have used some of his resources on Friday,” said Kelly Duarte, Stewart’s niece.

Leake County Sheriff Randy Atkinson said he’s reached out to every resource he has, and they’re doing everything they can to bring Stewart home. Atkinson said his heart goes out to the family.
