RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Organizers hosted the 2024 Independence Day Celebration at the Reservoir on Saturday, June 29.
There was a dual fireworks show and music at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland and Bobby Cleveland Park at Lakeshore on the Rankin County side.
Earlier in the day, people enjoyed food vendors, boat ride activities, and other activities. This was the 13th year for the event.
“We’re we’re ready for the celebration. You know, it’s our independence. And we’re doing a good thing by being our show and our support,” said Paul Devine, an attendee.
“It’s not a lot of time for us to all come together and just have a good time. And that’s what you need when it’s a lot of negativity that we could be focused on. But I think it’s better to just focus on the sunshine and the food because that’s what we need to thrive,” said Audriana Mobley, an attendee.
Those who attended on Saturday are looking forward to next year’s celebration.
