JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) responded to four fatal crashes during the 2024 Independence Day Holiday Travel Period.
The travel period ran from Thursday, July 4 to Sunday, July 7.
MHP issued a total of 6,474 citations, made 149 arrests for impaired driving, and cited 876 drivers for occupant restraint violations.
MHP also investigated 141 crashes resulting in 45 injuries, with four fatal crashes and four deaths. The fatal crashes occurred in Pearl River, Scott, Sunflower and Pike Counties.
