JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Bond has been set for the man accused of kidnapping a 7-month-old girl in Jackson, who was later found safe.
James Wilson, 44, made his initial appearance in court on Tuesday, July 9. He received a $250,000 bond on a kidnapping charge and a $50,000 bond on an auto theft charge.
Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said Wilson was arrested by Capitol police at the Olive Tree Hotel in Jackson on Monday, July 8.
During a perp walk on Monday, Wilson denied he committed the crime. He was transported to the Hinds County Detention Center.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said the baby was left in a running car by her mother at the Shell gas station on Beasley Road on Saturday, July 6. He said a man, who was wearing a medical mask, took the vehicle while the mother was inside the gas station.
The vehicle was found abandoned outside Brent’s Drugs in the Fondren neighborhood by Capitol police shortly after it was taken. The child was still inside, and the vehicle was still running. The baby, who was unharmed, was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
