JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A driver was arrested after a chase from Jackson to Flowood, authorities said.
Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said Capitol police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Bailey Avenue near Wood Street at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13.
Martin said the driver refused to stop and led police on a chase to Flowood. The vehicle wrecked in a parking lot of a restaurant off of Lakeland Drive.
According to Martin, 32-year-old Michael Banks was arrested in the parking lot of Belk after he tried to run away. He was wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) for probation violation.
Banks was transported to the Hinds County Detention Center and has been charged with felony evasion by Capitol police.
