JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police arrested a 57-year-old man in connection to a fatal shooting.

The shooting happened near Chastain Drive and Garvin Street on Thursday, July 11. Detective Tommie Brown said the unidentified victim was shot at the location and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Hinds County Detention Center’s website, Eddie Lee Gilbert was arrested on Saturday, July 13. Brown said Gilbert was charged with murder, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and felony drug possession.
