Man arrested for firing shots into Madison home

MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Madison police arrested a Jackson man for allegedly firing multiple shots into a home.

Police said Roman Cortez Hines, 38, was arrested without incident on Friday, July 19. He was charged with drive-by shooting and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

Madison police said shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 11 in the Northbay Subdivision. When officers arrived at the location, they found a house on Long Cove Drive that was struck several times with bullets. No injuries were reported.

Officials said Madison police and agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations (MBI) executed several search warrants, where items of evidentiary value related to the initial crime was collected.

Hines’ case will be forwarded to Madison and Rankin Counties District Attorney Bubba Bramlett for prosecution following his initial appearance in the City of Madison Municipal Court.

Police said Hines will be housed at the Madison County Detention Center as he awaits his initial appearance.
