RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies arrested a Texas man after they seized 44 pounds of methamphetamine.

On Monday, July 22, Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Truck on Interstate 20 for a traffic violation. According to the sheriff, the deputy developed probable cause that the suspect may be involved in drug trafficking.

Other deputies responded to the scene to assist, and the deputy deployed his K9 partner “Voodoo” to search the vehicle. The K9 made a positive alert on the vehicle, according to Bailey.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators found a cardboard box in the rear passenger area and discovered 44 pounds of methamphetamine inside the box.

The driver, Arnol Zamora, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Rankin County Jail.
