JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said one teenager died and another was injured after they were struck by a vehicle early Friday morning.

The incident occurred in the 3400 block of Rainey Road at 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 26.

Detective Tommie Brown said a 15-year-old girl died at the scene. The second victim, who is also 15, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Brown said the driver of the vehicle was taken to the Jackson Police Department (JPD) Headquarters for questioning. As of Friday morning, the driver has not been charged.
