JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson State University (JSU) entered into an agreement with surrounding apartment complexes to help house students for the 2024-25 school year.

The agreement was approved on Tuesday, July 30 during a special meeting for the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).

JSU will lease rooms from Walthall Lofts and The Courthouse, which are both located on East Capitol Street. The agreement will cost $5.9 million and will be funded through residential facility charges to students.
