MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Madison police said two men and one woman have been arrested for breaking into multiple postal collection boxes across the metro area.
Police said they began investigating the case, along with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), on August 5, 2024. They said a large collection box had been broken into in Madison.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects’ vehicle, which was located on Lakeland Drive. After a traffic stop, police said they found the suspected burglary tools inside the vehicle.
Madison police, USPS, Capitol police and Hinds County deputies located an additional suspect at the Red Roof Inn off of High Street. Inside the room, investigators said they found additional evidence, including stolen checks and other packages.
The suspects were identified as 21-year-old La Keith D. Fountain, of Houston, Texas; 22-year-old Quintin R. Hall, of Spring, Texas; and 25-year-old Jazmine R. Page, of Avondale, Arizona. The three suspects were booked into the Madison County Detention Center on charges of petit larceny. They were denied bond as the investigation continues.
According to Madison police, the investigation revealed that one mail box containing 133 checks totaling $70,000.00 was broken into at 990 Highway 51 in the City of Madison, one mail box in the City of Brandon, and four mail boxes in the City of Jackson.
Police said additional charges are expected as the case progresses.
