LAWRENCE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Lawrence County deputies arrested a man after he allegedly shot his fiancée multiple times.

Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said deputies responded to the Lawrence County Hospital just after midnight on August 4, 2024, after receiving a call about a shooting. He said a female victim had been shot multiple times.

Everett said 38-year-old Victor Charles Smith, who described the victim as his fiancée, transported her to the emergency room. He was arrested at the scene for an outstanding warrant on a separate matter.

After conducting an investigation, the sheriff said Smith was charged with aggravated domestic violence and attempted kidnapping.

The victim in the case is recovering.
