Mississippi man arrested after 10 dead dogs found at home, some with collars and chains attached

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Lafayette County, Mississippi man is facing a long list of animal cruelty charges after numerous malnourished and dead dogs were allegedly found on his property.

On Sunday, deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on County Road 418 after receiving calls regarding possible animal cruelty.

Reports say deputies found several dogs on the property that appeared malnourished. Several other dogs were found dead and still attached to their collars and chains.

Investigators conducted a search warrant on the residence. In total, 20 animals were rescued and taken to a local veterinarian for care, and 10 animals were found dead.

On Wednesday, Terry Pegues, 47, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
