JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Officials with JXN Water said the company has initiated the process to disconnect water meters to homes and businesses that have been using water without having an active account.
According to officials, JXN Water discovered earlier this year that thousands of addresses with new water meters were consuming water without an associated account, resulting in unbilled water usage. These properties have now entered the severance process.
The company stated that letters were sent to the addresses to let residents know that they needed to reach out to JXN Water to establish an account or risk having their water service disconnected without notice. They said many residents came forward and established accounts, but many others did not.
As of early this week, officials said more than 125 people have opened accounts with JXN Water after their service was disconnected. Once customers set up an account, officials said water service is restored.
To address any concerns or inquiries, customers can contact the JXN Water call center at 601-500-5200.
