JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – One of the suspects charged in connection to the shooting death of a local DJ appeared in court on Tuesday, August 13.

During his preliminary court appearance, a judge denied bond for 20-year-old Malik Ray. The judge said Ray is a danger to the community.

In June 2024, Ray and Cortez George were both arrested for the murder of Anthony Davis, 23.

According to investigators, Davis was shot and killed after suspects in two vehicles fired shots at one another near North State Street and Cedars of Lebanon Drive. One of the vehicles involved, a black Chrysler 300, was recovered on Tuesday, January 30 at Autumn Place Apartments.

The third suspect, Martravious Douglas, was arrested at Spring Lake Apartments in Byram on Wednesday, July 10.

Jackson police said they’re still searching for 18-year-old Aidan Mayes in connection to the shooting death of Davis.

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting can contact the Jackson Police Department (JPD) or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).
