JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are investigating after one person was killed and five others were injured during a shooting in Jackson.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 at the Daiquiri Bar on West Capitol Street.

Bailey Martin, press secretary for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (DPS), said one individual received fatal injuries, and the other five victims were transported to a local hospital.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart identified the victim as Niger Devon McGee, 25. The coroner said McGee was shot in the face.
