Mother charged with kidnapping two children in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced a woman was arrested for allegedly kidnapping two children.

Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) issued a Missing/Endangered Child Alert for a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old boy on Friday, August 16. The two boys were last seen on Thursday, August 15 around 3:00 p.m. in the 100 block of North Hill Street in Hinds County.

Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said the boys’ grandmother, who is the custodial guardian of the children, reported they had been kidnapped by their biological mother, 25-year-old Montreanna Rattler.

Several hours after the alert was issued for the boys, Brown said Rattler brought both of the children to JPD Headquarters. She was arrested and charged with kidnapping. The two children were released into their grandmother’s custody.

Rattler is being held in the Hinds County Detention Center.
