FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Forrest County deputies arrested a 14-year-old after he allegedly shot and killed his father.

The shooting occurred on Scenic Drive in the Glendale Community on Tuesday, August 20. Deputies found the victim, Thomas Everett, who had been shot twice.

Forrest County Sheriff Charlie Sims said the son, Taurence Everett, was arrested at another home about a mile away. He was booked into the Forrest County Jail and charged as an adult with first degree murder.

Everett appeared in court on Thursday, August 22. His bond was set at $250,000. If Everett is released, he was ordered to wear an ankle monitor, have no contact with the victim’s family, report to the court once a month and undergo a mental evaluation.
