BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – Brandon and Pearl firefighters responded to a fire at one of the City of Brandon’s Halloween attractions.

The fire occurred at The Dark Zone Haunted House around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24. The Dark Zone is located on Woodgate Drive.

Tony Cox, a board member of the Exchange Club of Crossgates, said he’s devastated by the loss of an establishment that once funded donations to several local organizations.

“This is brutal. This is what we raise all of our funds for. We have child abuse prevention centers that we donate funds to every year. We help them with support, you know, and be open. If we don’t donate funds, it’s a huge budget loss for them. And it’s going to be hard for us to do anything this year if we do anything at all,” Cox said.

According to a Facebook post by The Dark Zone, the house appears to be a total loss along with all of their items.

“Please say a prayer for Brandon Fire Department and the other departments that responded who are doing their best out here. We will be back, but please give us time to process this,” the statement said.

The Dark Zone has been open for more than 20 years.
