LAWRENCE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A body was discovered inside a burned vehicle in Lawrence County.

The body was discovered on a property on Sunday, September 1.

Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said a family member of the property owner discovered the burned vehicle on a dead end road off of Highway 27. The sheriff notified investigators and an agent with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) about the discovery.

When authorities arrived at the location, they were able to confirm a body was inside the vehicle. Everett hopes that a DNA analysis will help identify the person.
