WASHINGTON PARISH, La. (WJTV) – A Mississippi woman was killed during a crash in Louisiana.

The crash occurred on LA Highway 25 near Cypress Road in Washington Parish around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 5.

According to Louisiana State Police, a 2015 Kia Forte was traveling northbound on the highway, and a 2020 Ford Taurus was traveling southbound.

Investigators said the Kia veered off the roadway and struck a guardrail. After hitting the guardrail, the Kia re-entered the road, crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with the Ford.

Authorities said the driver of the Kia, 51-year-old Teresa Brown-Garcia, of Jayess, Mississippi, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said Brown-Garcia was unrestrained.

The driver of the Ford received serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
