MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man’s body was recovered Wednesday night from Moon Lake in Coahoma County, Mississippi, the county sheriff said.

Authorities believe the man may have drowned in an attempt to recover his boat.

The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to Moon Lake around 7:30 p.m., following a report from a concerned citizen about a truck that had been on the boat ramp for several hours.

The county’s Search and Rescue team along with state game wardens recovered the body around 9:30, and notified family. The victim has not been identified.

Moon Lake sits near the junction of Highways 61 and 49 near Lula, Mississippi.
