CLAIBORNE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured during a two-vehicle crash in Claiborne County.

The crash occurred on Highway 547 near Mount Pleasant Road around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 2013 Infiniti Q70 sedan, driven by 44-year-old Shenetra W. Johnson, of Pattison, was traveling northbound when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2003 Nissan Frontier that was traveling southbound.

Troopers said Johnson received fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by MHP.
