LEAKE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was found safe after he got lost in a wooded area in Leake County.
Officials with the Leake County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of Ott Jones Road on Friday, September 20.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they were notified that Shirley Ferguson had made her way out of the woods. Investigators said Doyle and Shirley Ferguson went into the woods near their home around noon on Thursday, September 19 and spent the night after they got lost.
Shirley Ferguson said she left her husband by a tree to get him water and to find help. However, she could not make her way back to him.

Authorities were able to use drones to aid in the search for Doyle Ferguson. He was located in the early afternoon of Saturday, September 21. Doyle Ferguson was transported to the Leake Baptist Emergency Department for medical treatment.
