Teen arrested for fatal shooting at Hazlehurst basketball court

HAZLEHURST, Miss. (WJTV) – Hazlehurst police arrested a 17-year-old in connection to the shooting death of a 23-year-old man.

The shooting occurred at the Hazlehurst Softball Complex basketball court around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23.

Hazlehurst police said Jaylen Larry, 23, had been shot multiple times during a fight with Jeremiah Wilson, 17. Larry was transported to the Copiah County Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Police said Wilson turned himself in to law enforcement in Brookhaven. He has been charged with murder.

The shooting is still under investigation.
