VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – One person was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Vicksburg.

The fire occurred in the 200 block of Winters Lane around 11:45 a.m. on Friday, September 27.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said when firefighters arrived at the location, they found visible flames and smoke. One person was suffering from smoke inhalation. The person was treated and transported to Merit Health River Region.

Stamps said the fire was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
