JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – State Senator John Horhn (D-Miss.) will announce he’s running to be the next mayor of Jackson.

The capital city’s mayoral election will take place in 2025. Horhn plans to make an official announcement on Thursday, October 3.

He has served in the Mississippi Legislature since 1993. Horhn is currently the chair of the Mississippi Senate Housing Committee.

Earlier this year, incumbent Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba said he intends to run reelection.
